Warranty and Extended Warranty

Congratulations you have made an excellent choice with your purchase of a High-Quality Baby Lock product!

Baby Lock products are manufactured to the highest possible standards. Your new Baby Lock machine has a warranty of one (1) year from purchase date on parts and labour against any defect arising from faulty materials or workmanship. A further four (4) years Extended Warranty on parts and labour is offered on overlockers and/or coverstitch machines subject to the following conditions:

  • Warranty Registration must be completed via the Baby Lock Australia website within twenty (20) days of the purchase date. Otherwise warranty applicable will revert to one (1) year on parts and labour.
  • Machines to be serviced at yearly or six (6) monthly intervals (depending on usage) at customers’ expense for the duration of the extended warranty.
  • Original purchase invoice and service dockets must be supplied in the event of a warranty claim.
  • Warranty is only valid to original purchaser and is not transferable.

Limited Warranty – Two (2) years on the following

  • Electronic components including – motors, power supply boards, PC boards, speed controller, foot controller and power lead.

Conditions not covered by warranty 

  • Parts not covered by warranty including, but not limited to – needles, needle plates, needle threaders, head thread guides, loopers, belts, globes/LED lights, knives and any other expendable parts which generally require replacement.
  • Damage resulting from lack of yearly or six (6) monthly services or failure to properly maintain machine.
  • Damage caused by current irregularities (i.e., power surges, electrical storms, power fluctuations from generators, solar panels and storage batteries).
  • Damage caused by misuse, accidental damage, use of non-genuine parts and/or accessories and normal wear and tear.
  • If parts other than genuine parts supplied by Baby Lock Australia are fitted to the machine or if the machine is used other than in accordance with the instructional manual.
  • Should the machine be adjusted or repaired by any person other than authorised Baby Lock technician this warranty automatically becomes null and void.
  • This warranty does not cover machines that are not solely used for domestic purposes.
    Should you choose to use your Baby Lock for business a six (6) month warranty applies.
    For school purchases a twelve (12) month warranty applies.

Conditions of warranty subject to our obligations under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL)

  • Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
  • The consumer benefits from certain warranties and conditions contained in Federal and State Legislation. Those benefits cannot by law be excluded and it is not intended to modify them. This warranty offers benefits to consumers in addition to and without restricting in any way, the benefits conferred by law.

How to lodge a Warranty Claim

In the event your machine requires repairs under the terms of warranty:

  • The machine should be returned to your point of purchase or an allocated Baby Lock Dealer in the event the machine was purchased at an exhibition.
  • If freight is necessary, machine must be properly packed to avoid damages. Cost of freight and insurance to be paid by consumer to and from the place of service.
  • Baby Lock Australia will not accept any liability for charges or damages relating to freight and insurance.
  • Claims must be lodged with Baby Lock Australia P.O. Box 1365, Tullamarine Victoria 3043 within fourteen (14) days of machine being returned to the Baby Lock Dealer. Copies of purchase invoice, service history and retailers repair docket stating the nature of the problem must also accompany the claim.

Total Liability

  • Baby Lock Australia’s liability regarding this warranty against defects is limited at our option to, the replacement or repair of the machine.
  • We will not be liable for special, indirect, consequential or economic loss or damage or loss of profits (in contract or tort or arising from any other cause of action) suffered by you or any person resulting from any act or omission by us.
